Site

Our inspiration for this villa in Xiamen, is the peculiar rock on the building site and the beautiful nature that surrounds the area. The house will have a spectacular view to the sea and to mountains and we want the building to be a part of this landscape. To achieve this, the garden will continue through the courtyard onto the roof of the house. Because the large houses on the neighbouring plots are relatively close, we also want to create a balance between extravert and introvert.

The building

On the site, there already is a concrete structure of another project that was never finished. We want to give the villa its own identity. To accomplish this, volumes will be added to the already existing concrete structure and a sort of shell will be wrapped around the total. This shell wil be perforated to create light sources and visual connections.
